Traditional Rug Weaving with Baba

Baba and his family and three brothers have been working in the rug business for 40 or more years in Chefchaouen, Morocco. Baba knows how to entertain and show off the wonderful works of art that his Father designed. His family creates rug designs that are rooted both in their culture and ancient tribal designs. You will not find these rugs styles anywhere else in the country.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You can bet you will be shown the works. You will enjoy the scenery of the old city of Chefchaouen on your walk to their shop. Baba and his family will take care of you as they serve you Mint Tea and tell you about their history and show you the beautiful art of their rugs. You will get a loom like the one in this picture and be taught how to build a rug with Baba. You will not make a full rug because this would take weeks but you can plan to make a small square for your own keep sake.

Baba is one of 4 brothers who work together in their Father’s business creating beautiful unique rugs together in the one of a kind Blue City of Morocco. He and his family are very hospitable and cultured. They are always excited to meet new people and invite them into their space and work.
